On 14 October 2017, HUTNÍ PROJEKT Frýdek Místek a.s. signed a contract for the supply of chemical operations of the coking plant with Vishakhapatnam Steel Plant in India with the aim to expand the existing coke production by means of a coke oven battery No. 5 with a total annual production capacity of 7.3 million tons of coke.

The final signature was preceded by nearly three-years of efforts in bid processing and participation in negotiating detailed tender conditions. The key to success in the tender was to find reliable local partners. The most extensive foreign contract in over 60 years of the company’s history will be implemented under our baton with the participation of Indian partners over the next 26 months.

By official signing of the contract in Vishakhapatnam, India, Mr. David Wilson, CEO of VSP, Mr. Marcel Jenčo, Managing Director of HUTNÍ PROJEKT Frýdek Místek a.s., together the participants of the consortium Mr. Chetan Sangani, Managing Director of HUTNI PROJECT FM INDIA Limited, and Mr. Mr. Rajeev Jain, CEO of BEC Bhilai, undertook to future cooperation.

Entering the foreign markets was another important step for the company, as there is no longer any growth opportunity in the Czech segment in the coke industry, and attention had to be directed towards prospective markets. The new contract is another proof of the well-founded effort of HUTNÍ PROJEKT Frýdek-Místek a.s. to anchor abroad as a recognized company in this industry. In the upcoming period, the company intends to promote and spread its activities in this area, but also wants to expand into other branches closely related to coke production.
